Environment Canada issues severe thunderstorm watch

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch Tuesday afternoon for the national capital region, cautioning that conditions were right for inclement weather that could include strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

The thunderstorm watches were issued for Ottawa North — Kanata — Orléans, Ottawa South — Richmond — Metcalfe and Gatineau.

Additionally, a heat warning issued earlier covering much of Eastern Ontario, the north shore of Lake Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe region, remained in effect.
