Fire investigators are at work to try to determine the cause of a stubborn fire behind the Mardi Gras night club in Old Hull early Thursday that knocked out electricity in the area for several hours and cause more than $1 million in damages.
Firefighters were called at about 2:15 a.m. for the blaze which began in a dumpster in a lane behind the nightclub on Promenade du Portage.
The tight laneway restricted firefighters’ efforts and power was cut to the area when the flames threatened Hydro-Québec lines.
The fire was eventually contained after about an hour. Damages were incurred at the night club and adjacent buildings.
There were no injuries and power has been restored to the area.
