The township of Chapleau, east of Ottawa, will receive nearly $6 million from the provincial and federal governments to upgrade a wastewater plant in Vankleek Hill.
The announcement comes only two days after neighbouring community Chute-à-Blondeau received government funding for the same purpose.
The project in Chapleau Township involves refurbishment of the existing Vankleek Hill Wastewater Treatment Plant to help it meet operational standards.
Like the project in Chute-à-Blondeau, this one is also being funded through the Small Communities fund, a joint endeavour that has seen the Ontario and federal governments each pitch in $272 million to support public infrastructure in small towns.
