A woman has died after she was struck by a vehicle while in a wheelchair at the intersection of Montreal Road and Elwood Street late Saturday night.
The Ottawa Paramedic Service said passersby, including a doctor from the Montfort Hospital emergency department, tried to revive the 60-year-old woman when she was struck just before midnight.
The woman had suffered multi-system trauma and was without vital signs when paramedics, police and the RCMP arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
The intersection was closed to traffic for most of the evening but was re-opened early Sunday morning.
Police are investigating the collision. No charges had been laid on Sunday morning.
