Ottawa – One lane on Albert Street eastbound from the Transitway to Bronson Avenue will be closed from August 7 to the end of the month. A signed detour will be in place.
Albert Street is being widened to accommodate OC Transpo buses from 2016 to 2018, while the West Transitway is converted to a light rail corridor for the O-Train Confederation Line.
The work involves widening the north side of Albert, relocating traffic signals, expanding and partially reconstructing the existing multi-use pathway, installing curbside catch basins and fully repaving the street.
In addition to the widening, Albert Street’s underground infrastructure is being renewed, including storm and sanitary sewers and watermain replacement.
OC Transpo may need to relocate bus stops during this construction. For more information, please visit octranspo.com.
With all of the construction-related activities underway, residents are encouraged to be flexible with commuting times, stagger work hours or use alternative means for travel. The public is asked to consider options such as transit, walking, cycling or carpooling.
