Ottawa’s Capital Pride released details Thursday of the parade route and events for the 30th year of the festival.

The new organization in charge of this year’s festival said they are bringing the parade and events back to its roots on Bank Street.

Running from Aug. 17 to 23, the parade will be held on the final day of the festival and start at 1 p.m. The new parade route will start at Gladstone Avenue and Bank Street, march up Kent Street, turn right on Laurier Avenue and end up back on Bank Street. Festival organizers said the parade’s “big finish” will draw it into the heart of the Ottawa’s gay village and the location of the festival’s Community Fair.

The Pride parade won’t feature a single parade marshall, instead honouring past parade marshalls by recognizing their contributions to the community.

The six-day festival will also feature more than 30 different events.
