Following through on their promise to keep recording their efforts, Ottawa taxi drivers released a second undercover video Saturday of an Uber trip taken downtown.
The video, which was posted Saturday night at approximately 10 p.m., showcased many of the same tactics employed in the original video. The undercover taxi drivers questioned the Uber driver on a variety of topics, including payment, licensing and car ownership.
However, they did not post the driver’s name or personal information, as was done in the first undercover video. This time, only the vehicle, the licence plate and a quick glance of the driver’s face is included.
“We will continue (making the videos,)” said taxi driver Roy Noja on CBC’s As It Happens Friday night. “We are taxi drivers of the city of Ottawa. We are licensed by the City of Ottawa, and we will not stop until we get the right back.”
Mayor Jim Watson and police Chief Charles Bordeleau have both asked the group of taxi drivers to stop, with Watson referring to them as “thugs,” “bullies,” and participating in “vigilantism.”
