The body of a 19-year-old Ontario man was recovered Monday from a Quebec river about 100 km east of Ottawa.
The man was reported missing on Sunday evening after he had tried to swim across the Rivière Rouge, north of Hawkesbury.
After firefighters unsuccessfully used a boat to try to rescue the swimmer, provincial police divers arrived at the scene on Monday. They found the body in the early evening close to where the young man had disappeared.
An autopsy will be conducted. The man’s name has not been released.
