Environment Canada and Ottawa Public Health have put out a heat warning for the next two days, as we’re looking at forecast highs of 31 C Sunday and 33 C Monday.

“Sunday and Monday are expected to be hot and humid,” says the weather office, with humidex readings expected to be near 40.

“Overnight, temperatures are only expected to fall to about 20 or so,” it adds.

Public Health officials suggest that people who don’t have their own air conditioning visit the beaches (last day for the season is Sunday), or a pool, or cool off in an air-conditioned city library.

Rainbow Theatres at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre lowers the price on movie tickets when there’s an official heat warning.

The temperature is supposed to ease off gradually as the week goes on — highs of 30 C on Tuesday and 24 C on Wednesday.
