A water leak earlier this week led Gatineau police to a high-rise marijuana grow-op at 42 Bédard St. in the northern part of the old Hull sector.
The investigation began Monday night when residents reported a burst water pipe in apartment 901. Police arriving at the ninth-floor unit, which was rented but not occupied, found the marijuana in various stages of growth and production, said Sgt. Jean-Paul Lemay.
Officers left the scene and returned with warrants to seize 285 plants, 1,137 grams of marijuana, a small amount of hashish and cultivation equipment.
Following investigation, police arrested two 44-year-old Gatineau men. The men were released on a promise to appear in court on charges of drug production and intent to traffic.
