At least a dozen Ottawa police cruisers and a tactical team in full-assault gear responded Wednesday night to reports of shots fired near the intersection of Forrest Avenue and Richmond Road.
“The neighbourhood heard six shots fired,“ said Michael Larabie, who is visiting his grandmother in the nearby Winthrop Court complex.
As onlookers gathered in the area near the Lincoln Fields Shopping Centre, police blocked off Forrest Avenue between Richmond and Carling Avenue.
The block includes an eight-storey apartment building on one side and a car wash, Chinese restaurant and automotive repair shop on the other side.
Paramedics were on the scene and standing by, but there were no reports of anyone being shot.
