Police seek assistance in locating stabbing suspect

Ottawa police are seeking public assistance in locating a woman suspected in the stabbing of a 26-year-old tourist in the ByWard Market area on Aug. 14.

Police said a woman stabbed a man in the lower back near the intersection of George and Dalhousie streets before fleeing the scene.

The man, whose identity was not released, was visiting Ottawa with the Maranatha Conservative Mennonite Church, was sent to hospital in stable condition.

Police said the stabbing appeared to be unprovoked and random.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian, 21-22 years old, five feet (152 cm) tall, with a thin build. She is described as having blond hair with pink highlights. She was last seen wearing a black dress, with white shoes, heading northbound on Dalhousie Street. She was seen earlier in the day wearing a flower print dress.
