Emergency crews converged on the Ottawa Hospital General campus on Smyth Road Thursday morning after a backhoe hit a gas line while digging.
Despite initial concerns, personnel at the scene judged the line was not severely damaged.
The hospital shut all windows and exterior air intake vents.
There was no evacuation from the hospital and city streets remained open.
Enbridge Gas was called to shut off the gas feeding the line.
More to come.
