One man was revived after at first showing no vital signs, and another was taken to hospital with head and back injuries after a car apparently ran into a road crew on Highway 174 Thursday afternoon.
The collision occurred on the highway median near Jeanne d’Arc Boulevard shortly before 1 p.m. when an SUV crashed into the two workers.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle by Ottawa firefighters.
Ottawa paramedics spokesperson J.P. Trottier said that one worker was not showing any vital signs prior to the paramedics’ arrival on scene.
But he was revived en route to hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
There was no immediate condition available for the second man, in his 40s, but was thrown “several metres upon impact.”
More to come.
