The driver of a dump truck that struck an overpass on Highway 417 near Holly Acres Road on Tuesday has been charged with careless driving.
The dramatic noon-hour, which separated the dumper unit from the cab of the truck, paralyzed traffic for most of the afternoon, including through the rush hour.
Provincial police said their investigation shows the dump truck box unit struck an overhead directional sign and then the Highway 416 overpass bridge.
The dump truck rolled over into the median.
The driver, Timmy Dumouchel, 22, of Quebec, was charged with careless driving.
Dumouchel suffered non-life-threatening head injuries in the crash.
