Nepean Synchro invites Synchro Squirts (6-8 years old) to join the splash! Spots are still open for September!
Imagine…
A gymnast performing underwater;
A 400-metre freestyle event in swimming with little opportunity to breathe;
The figures, leaps and spins of a figure skater performed in an unstable medium;
The water polo player’s ability to emerge above the surface of the water with power and strength with an added touch of elegance;
Add grace and fluidity and multiply by two, six or eight individuals synchronizing each part of every movement and…
That is Synchronized Swimming!

For young girls who are looking for an active water sport this season, check out Nepean Synchro, currently ranked the #2 club in Ontario. Nepean Synchro is offering the Synchro Squirts program for 6-8 year old newcomers to synchronized swimming starting in September.
In a matter of a few months, swimmers will bond with new friends, become part of the synchro community, and learn the basic skills of synchro. They will also have an opportunity to whoop it up while they perform their choreographed routines to music in front of friends and family. It is a sport that promotes strength, endurance, team-building, mental capacity (memorizing routines and counting through them), to name just a few benefits.
Swimmers in Synchro Squirts practice once a week for 1.5 hours. Currently, there are openings on Tuesdays after school or Saturday afternoons at the Britannia pool (2825 Dumaurier Ave., Ottawa). The program runs from Sept 2015 to May 2016. The minimum requirement is Red Cross Swim Kids 3; no synchro experience is needed. Skilled coaches, who are current or former synchro swimmers themselves, are eager to share their love of the sport!
Nepean Synchro offers opportunities for athlete progression from season to season within the recreational program. The club also boasts thriving novice and competitive programs to accommodate a range of swimmer abilities, schedules, and aspirations.
