Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man after an assault on a woman in August near Confederation Park.
The incident occurred on Aug. 1 around approximately 2:33 a.m., when the female victim was hit in the head from behind by a male suspect as she walked down the stairs to Confederation Park from Mackenzie King Bridge.
A struggle ensued but the victim was able to fend off the attack and called police.
Police describe the suspect as a Middle Eastern male in his early 20s who is about 5-10 (178 centimetres) with a thin build, and who was unshaven, had dark eyes and was wearing a black, long-sleeve T-shirt, red ball cap and light-coloured jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call central district investigations at 613-236-1222, ext. 5166. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa Police iOS app.
