An alert Wal-Mart night worker in Gatineau is being credited with disrupting a pair of cat burglars who had targeted a building supply stash on the roof of the retailer at 640 Maloney Blvd.
Police say the pair used a ladder, which they pulled up after themselves, to get to the roof of the department store, where the construction materials were stored.
The unnamed employee heard footsteps over his head inside the store and alerted the authorities.
Police surprised the thieves on the roof, where they were arrested without incident.
The unnamed suspects, aged 40 and 49, were released on a promise to appear in court to face charges of theft, break-in, and breach of probation.
