True to his word, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson will hold a public forum at city hall to help residents understand how can they help Syrian refugees resettle in Ottawa.
Here’s the media advisory from Watson’s office:
Mayor Watson to host public information forum on Syrian refugee resettlement efforts
Ottawa – Following a meeting held by Mayor Watson with faith leaders and frontline organizations on Wednesday, the City of Ottawa will be hosting a public information forum and town hall at City Hall. This session will bring together our residents and community groups that wish to help with subject matter experts that can provide the knowledge and contacts that will make their involvement possible.
Date: Thursday, October 1
Time: 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Location: Jean Pigott Place, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West
The session will feature short presentations from previously sponsored families, experts in refugee resettlement and representatives from frontline organizations on how residents and community groups can assist in these resettlement efforts. This will be followed by a Q&A session. Various organizations will also have information tables where residents will be able to further understand the process and sign-up to assist in whichever they can.
