Dalton McGuinty, was given the Sierra Club Distinguished Service Award on Saturday for his dedication to the environment.
Ontario’s former premier was nominated for the award by Sierra Club Canada Foundation for closing Ontario’s coal-fired power plants, passing the Green Energy Act and creating the greenbelt around Toronto.
“No other government leader in North America has made a greater contribution to fighting climate change,” Diane Beckett, Interim Executive Director of Sierra Club Canada Foundation, said in a statement.
Sierra Club is the largest grassroots environmental organization in North America.
