The thief (or thieves) came for cash, but stayed for a meal.

Whoever broke into the Chip Off The Block chip wagon on Pembroke Street East in Laurentian Valley Township (outside Pembroke) was in no hurry to escape on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

Police won’t say how cash much he, she or they stole.

But there was more than a crumb of evidence left in the chip wagon: the thief stuck around long enough to eat “a quantity” of food — the amount and type undisclosed, but it may have been salty, because the intruder had some drinks too.

A provincial police scenes of crime officer is assisting with the investigation.
