Ottawa police announced Thursday night that they had identified a 75-year-old man who apparently collapsed and died while out for a jog late Tuesday morning.
Police issued a news release thanking the public for its assistance in identifying the man, who was found face down without a pulse by a passerby around 11 a.m. Tuesday on the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway near Woodroffe Avenue.
The man’s name was not released but police said his family had been notified and stated the cause of death was “natural”.
After the man was found, police had said he was tanned and appeared to have been an avid jogger.
“Someone called 911 when they saw a man collapsed on the path; he was in full running gear,” spokesperson J.P. Trottier had said.
Witnesses said the man ran in the area on a regular basis.
