Ottawa – Starting Monday, September 21, lanes will be reduced on Sussex Drive, St. Patrick Street and in the eastbound direction from the Alexandra Bridge to allow for installation of new cycling and pedestrian facilities. These lanes will be closed till the work is completed at the end of November.

Lanes reductions are as follows:

  • Sussex Drive southbound - Right lane closed immediately north and south of St. Patrick St. intersection
  • St. Patrick Street – Right or left lane closed immediately east of Sussex
  • Alexandra Bridge eastbound – Right or left lane closed immediately west of Mackenzie Avenue

Vehicles heading north to Gatineau may experience traffic delays. Motorists are advised to plan ahead. Access for cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

With all of the construction-related activities underway, residents are encouraged to be flexible with commuting times, stagger work hours or use alternative means for travel. The public is asked to consider options such as transit, walking, cycling or carpooling.

The City of Ottawa has tools on ottawa.ca to help motorists and transit users plan their routes and manage their commute including:

The Sussex Drive Reconstruction project is an Ottawa on the Move project. Ottawa on the Move is about keeping our community and economy moving forward through strategic investments in a number of transportation, water, and sewer projects to build a better city and create jobs.
