A 26-year-old man from Geraldton, in Northern Ontario who crashed his vehicle in a ditch after workers refused to let him ride a Val-des-Monts tree-to-tree zipline was arrested Saturday for driving with three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
MRC des Collines police say that witnesses reported the man showed up at Arbaska Laflèche zipline site at mid-morning on Saturday.
“The workers said the individual was drinking on the site, was unsteady and they said ‘Whoa, monsieur, you can’t get on the ride’,” said Sgt. Sylvain Gauthier, of MRC des Collines police. Gauthier said the company refunded his ticket.
The man stumbled off and got in his car, ignoring workers’ offers to help and attempts to grab his keys.
Police were called and they had little trouble tracking the man down. He had crashed into a ditch within site of the zipline company.
The man’s car was seized for 30 days and his license is suspended for 90 days. He is scheduled to appear in court in December.
