A manhunt is underway near the small village of Wilno, near Barry’s Bay, after a person was shot and killed Wednesday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police advised residents of the village, about 180 kilometres west of Ottawa, to lock their doors and remain indoors.
Police provided no further details on the shooting.
Police have set up roadblocks in the area.
Schools were reportedly on lockdown, although police said they had no reason to fear the children were in danger.
