The City of Ottawa and the union representing airport taxi drivers have reached a deal that will keep the drivers from blocking the Airport Parkway.

Wednesday’s deal, endorsed by Superior Court Judge Robert Beaudoin, came as the city went to court seeking an injunction to prevent obstruction of the parkway by airport cabbies.

The deal removed the need for the injunction.

Though the Ottawa Airport Authority is not a party for the agreement, union lawyer Sean McGee made an undertaking that the authority could enforce its terms.

The airport taxi drivers have been protesting an increase in pickup fees to about $5 from the current $1.50.

Earlier this month, three drivers allegedly attacked a Blueline cab with an airport passenger aboard, smashing in a window.
