Ottawa police are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect in a Rideau Street bank robbery last month.

Police say a man walked into a bank on the 100 block of Rideau Street at about 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 31 and showed a teller a note demanding cash. The man “suggested” he had a weapon but none was seen.

The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash that the man placed in a green commercial deposit bag he had brought with him.

He is described as Caucasian, 50-60 years old, about 200 pounds (91 kg) and five-feet-nine-inches tall.

At the time, he was wearing a red-and-white ball cap, sunglasses, an off-white collared shirt, cargo shorts to his knees, white sport socks about five inches up his legs, multi-coloured running shoes, and gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ottawa police robbery unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling CrimeStoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or by downloading the Ottawa police iOS app.
