Everyone in Laury Graham’s life knew she was getting married on Saturday — except her.
The Ottawa woman had a pretty regular Friday night. A ham sandwich for supper, and an episode of The King of Queens before turning in.
Her long-time boyfriend and her two children did a good job of keeping it a secret, surprise wedding. So did her friends and family, some of whom flew in from Haiti.
Her sister came in from Toronto and said she wanted to take her out to get her nails and hair done as a belated birthday gift for her 40th.
Then they drove to historic and charming Billings Estate, where she was handed a white wedding dress and greeted by some 63 surprise guests.
While a surprise wedding is not for everyone, a radiant Graham was still beaming and laughing about it hours later as she walked into Ottawa’s city hall for the reception.
