At least one person was injured and several had to be rescued when fire struck a medium-rise apartment building at 1889 Carling Ave. Friday morning.
Fire and paramedics were called to the address shortly before 7 a.m. when several people called 911 to report smoke pouring from a a basement apartment at the building near Sherbourne Road.
A person was rescued from the basement flat and taken to hospital.
Others were rescued from apartments on the third floor.
Rush hour traffic was rerouted.
