Ottawa – Ottawa residents will have several opportunities in the coming week to take part in pre-budget consultations in advance of the City of Ottawa Budget 2016. These opportunities are in addition to Mayor Jim Watson’s telephone town hall held in June and the budget2016@ottawa.ca email address.
City Councillors will work together in groups, inviting residents from their wards to share budget comments and provide input on priorities and potential savings.
Suggestions and ideas arising from these consultations will be brought forward for consideration before the Mayor and City staff develop the draft budget, which will be tabled later this fall. To assist residents in preparing for these meetings background information and budget resource materials are available at ottawa.ca.
Residents are invited to contribute to the conversation at one of these consultations:
Tuesday, October 6
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Jim Durrell Recreation Centre, 1265 Walkley Road
Councillors Riley Brockington (River Ward), David Chernushenko (Capital Ward), Jean Cloutier (Alta Vista Ward) and Diane Deans (Gloucester-Southgate Ward)
Wednesday, October 7
6 to 8 p.m.
St. Laurent Complex, 525 Coté Street
Councillors Mathieu Fleury (Rideau-Vanier Ward) and Tobi Nussbaum (Rideau-Rockliffe Ward)
Thursday, October 8
6 to 8 p.m.
Makerspace North, Bay 216, 250 City Centre Avenue
Councillors Jeff Leiper (Kitchissippi Ward) and Catherine McKenney (Somerset Ward)
In addition, Councillor Allan Hubley (Kanata South Ward) will host a budget consultation page on his website where residents can leave comments.
Residents may also offer budget input by sending an email directly to budget2016@ottawa.ca. Learn more about the City’s budget process with the resources at ottawa.ca/citybudget.
