Yes, that’s a frost warning that Environment Canada just issued. They seem to mean it, too, because they’re urging people to bring delicate plants indoors Friday night.
We’re due to get clear air Friday night, and the temperature will drop to 0 C, although that isn’t really a big drop after a miserable Friday.
This would be the first freezing night since May 23, when the temperature dropped to -2.8 C and scared a lot of gardeners who had been busy on the unseasonably hot Victoria Day weekend (29 C) a few days earlier.
So summer’s over. Somewhere there’s a Toronto Blue Jays joke in there, and possible several about the Leafs as well.
But after this one cold night we’re due for a brief turnaround, with sunshine and highs of 11 C, 18 C and 22 C on Saturday through Monday. There are no more freezing nights in the week’s forecast.
