A damaged hard drive seized from a garbage can outside a home that police raided in September has led to child pornography charges against a 43-year-old man.
The Ottawa police Internet child exploitation unit assisted the Ontario Provincial Police child sexual exploitation unit with a search warrant on Walkley Road near St. Laurent Boulevard last month.
Police seized several computers and digital media, but forensic analysis revealed that none contained any evidence of child pornography.
But the single hard drive in the trash was restored and analysed, police said, and Lance Golding, 43, is now charged with two counts of possessing child pornography and one count of making available child pornography.
Golding was to appear in court on Wednesday.
