Six children were treated for non-life threatening injuries after a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Leitrim and Hawthorne roads late Tuesday afternoon.
Ottawa Paramedics said they treated six students, aged eight to 12, at the scene. One youngster suffered a head injury and two others suffered facial injuries. Three others received minor bumps and scrapes in the 4:10 p.m. collision involving the bus, an SUV, a pickup and a flatbed truck.
The bus was carrying about 30 preteen students from Frano Cité school.
Paramedics emphasized that none of the injuries was considered serious. The children with head and facial injuries were taken to Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario as a precaution. The remaining students were taken to a nearby location while their parents were called to pick them up.
The drivers of the pickup and the flatbed were treated for minor neck and back injuries.
Hawthorne Road was closed for about two hours.
