Ontario Provincial Police are asking for public assistance in identifying a man who broke into the home of an 86-year-old woman on Tuesday morning.
According to police, the woman awoke around 6 a.m. to find the man standing at the foot of her bed.
He then fled the scene and the woman was not injured.
Police are not releasing most of the details regarding the break-in but they said that the man is suspected of breaking into a number of homes Tuesday, including the residence next door to the elderly woman.
The suspect is described as 18-25 years old, about five feet eight inches tall with a thin build and dark complexion. He had short hair and was wearing dark clothing.
Police are asking anyone in Perth to contact police if they saw a person or a vehicle loitering in the area of Victoria Street prior to 6 a.m. Tuesday, or anyone who may have noticed anything unusual from Perth Arena north to the Great War Memorial Hospital between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
Anyone with information is asked to call Lanark County detachment OPP at 1-888-310–1122.
