The New Ottawa Doll Show and Sale in support of the Ottawa Food Bank will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The Ottawa Food Bank has been operating for 30 years. The need has grown: every month, 51,613 people depend on the food bank’s network of 140 emergency food programs (shelters, food cupboards, before and after school programs, etc.) throughout the Ottawa area. All proceeds from doll show admission will go to the Ottawa Food Bank.

By working with contacts in the food industry and buying in quantity, the Ottawa Food Bank is able to turn every $1 donated into more than $5 worth of food.

“When you consider that last year the food bank spent more than $83,500 on peanut butter alone, you can begin to understand the need,” says Valerie Hennigar, the doll show’s principal organizer.

The show will take place at the EY Centre, 4899 Uplands Dr. (near the Ottawa airport), from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission is a cash donation to the Ottawa Food Bank (minimum $2, please). For more information, please contact Valerie Hennigar at (613) 314-4240 or vhennigar@sympatico.ca
