The polling station at Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre nnear Britannia Beach in the Ottawa West-Nepean riding opened more than 30 minutes late Monday after four Elections Canada staff members failed to show up.
Joan O’Neill, a liaison officer who oversees 15 electoral districts in Eastern Ontario, said two poll clerks and two registration officers didn’t show up so they had to call in more staff to cover.
Meanwhile, voting at the St. Francis of Assisi polling station in Orléans was delayed for about an hour as ballot boxes were inadertently sent to the wrong poll.
Elections Canada servers crash
The Elections Canada website crashed on Monday morning because of a high volume of traffic.
By around 10:30 a.m., the website was back to normal.
Attack signs surface in Ottawa
The election heated up as attack signs surfaced across the city, including ones installed over the weekend on Richmond Road with a quote from Justin Trudeau: “Small businesses are actually ways for wealthier Canadians to save on their taxes.”

In small print, the sign said it was authorized by Abdul Abdi, the Conservative candidate in that area.
Other questionable signs were reported in several ridings.
Voters are reminded that only City of Ottawa bylaw officers are permitted to remove any election signs, even if they appear to be illegal.
