Voters at a Glebe polling station came to the aid of a 55-year-old woman who had a heart attack Monday.
Paramedics responded to a call reporting a woman had suffered “sudden cardiac arrest” after collapsing Monday evening at the Glebe Community Centre. Bystanders and an off-duty doctor began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The physician also applied an automated external defibrillator, one of more than 750 defibrillators the City of Ottawa has placed in all police and fire vehicles and most recreational facilities, community centres and libraries.
The woman regained consciousness and was listed in serious but stable condition when she arrived at hospital.
