The robber had a plain dark coat, plain jeans, plain baseball cap — and bright red stains from an exploding dye pack.

A security camera caught a pretty good view of this man, who is wanted for robbing a bank on Tuesday. Police want your help in finding him.

He showed a black handgun when he robbed the bank at about 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, but police aren’t saying what bank it was. It’s somewhere on Richmond Road, not far from Island Park Drive.

Police aren’t saying how much he stole, either. He may have escaped in a green pickup truck parked on a residential side street nearby.

There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as white, about six feet, one inch, with short hair, and clean shaven. At the time he wore a dark coloured coat, possibly leather, jeans, and a dark baseball cap. The suspect carried a large military style, green camouflage backpack.

Police said the bank gave him an anti-theft dye-pack with the money and it blew up, spraying red dye on him as he left the building.

Anyone with information with respect to this robbery, or any other robbery, is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5116. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or by downloading the Ottawa Police iOS app.
