Volunteer Ottawa is currently recruiting for our Community Engagement Team. Members will work as a team, meeting monthly to organize, plan, and implement activities. We welcome all your innovative ideas on engaging our community in volunteerism. Training/orientation provided. This opportunity is best for representatives of youth (18-21), retirees/seniors, people with disabilities and new Canadians. The International Pastors and Leader Forum Ottawa will host their annual convention on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31. Volunteers will welcome participants, perform administrative duties, register delegates, make telephone calls and help to serve food. Volunteers will require an interview before the conference. City of Ottawa Fall Community Day: recruiting volunteers for this event at Lansdowne Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 31. Will include 1st Annual Pumpkin Derby and decoration, games, activities, music and more. All volunteers must have completed their AODA training to qualify. The Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County is seeking volunteers for the Speakers Bureau to deliver presentations in the community to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease. Volunteers may also manage booths across the region at fairs, conferences, businesses, and government agencies. Also needed: an assistant facilitator for onsite webinars, “thank-you” callers to personally thank donors with a courteous phone manner, empathetic and excellent communication skills, and planning committee member volunteers to participate on committees for 2016 walk for Alzheimer’s in May 2016.
