If the massive detour system downtown due to the Kent Street overpass replacement isn’t confusing enough, the National Capital Commission and the City of Ottawa say this weekend will see the shutdown of Colonel By Drive and access ramps for installation of Rideau Skateway buildings and other work.
On Saturday, Colonel By Drive will be closed between Pretoria Bridge (Hawthorne Avenue) and Fifth Avenue between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
From 8 a.m. until noon, a 100-metre section of the northbound Queen Elizabeth Driveway will be reduced at Fifth Avenue on a periodic basis.
On Sunday, from 6:30 a.m. to to 3:30 pp.m., Colonel By Drive will be closed between Pretoria Bridge and Daly Avenue. The 100-metre section of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway will also be closed again.
Some areas of the Rideau Canal pathways will also be closed during the work.
Meanwhile, the city advises that ramps connecting Colonel By Drive and Bronson Avenue will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly from Sunday, Oct. 25 and to Tuesday, Oct. 27, for intersection improvements.
During construction, pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use the ramps on a shared path.
Access to Colonel By Drive via Bronson Place and Seneca Street will remain open to all traffic.
