Four people, including two prison inmates, suffered minor injuries when a detention van collided with a car on Highway 105 in Messines, Que., about 20 kilometres south of Maniwaki, said provincial police.
A Sûreté du Québec spokeswoman said the crash occurred at 3:20 p.m. on Friday when the van struck a car in front of it attempting to turn left on the highway. The van was carrying two guards and eight inmates.
Two prisoners and two people in the car were transported to hospital with minor injuries. The road was closed after the accident but has since reopened.
Police were not able to provide details about where the inmates were from or where they were travelling to.
