Louis Riel High School in Blackburn Hamlet has closed for the day as Ottawa police investigate “suspicious threats” made against several Ottawa-area high schools on Wednesday night.

Police tweeted they were investigating threats to three school boards, but would not say which schools are under investigation or the nature of the threats.

However, police are in front of Louis Riel High School in Blackburn Hamlet which is part of the Conseil des écoles Publiques de l’est de l’Ontario school board.

Teachers and students have been sent home for the day.

Police had the school shut on Thursday morning and buses were seen taking away students.

“The police are currently conducting an investigation. We have been advised to maintain regular school operations,” OCDSB spokeswoman Sharlene Hunter said in an email.

“Additional information will be shared by Ottawa police when available. We have no school closures.”

More to come.
