Ottawa – Beginning on Monday, November 2, nightly lane reductions will occur on Sandford Fleming Avenue and Industrial Avenue between Sandford Fleming Avenue and Riverside Drive. There will also be sidewalk closures and pedestrian detours around the active construction areas. This work is expected to be completed in early December, weather permitting.

This work is being done to construct a transit priority lane on southbound Sandford Fleming Drive (adjacent to Canada Post) and in the westbound direction on Industrial Avenue from Sanford Fleming Avenue to Riverside Drive. Work will include widening Industrial Avenue, as well as relocating traffic signals, streetlighting and catch basins.

All work requiring lane reductions will be done at night to minimize traffic impacts. Access to Canada Post will be maintained at all times. Pedestrians will be detoured at signalized intersections.

During construction, there will be a greater need for all road users to share the road safely. When navigating through the construction area, be cautious and watch out for construction vehicles and workers, pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists. Signage will emphasize the need to slow down and share the road.

The City of Ottawa has tools to help motorists and transit users plan their routes and manage their commute, including:
