Ottawa police are hunting a man whose roofing job promises allegedly don’t hold water.

Philip Slobodzian, 44, has been charged with two counts of fraud under $5,000 and two of possession of the proceeds of crime, all related to a construction scam where homeowners paid for roofing that was never done.

Police say Slobodzian went door to door to get roofing customers and collected deposits from them, but never did the work and ignored their phone calls.

They say he’s already on probation after previous convictions under the Consumer Protection Act for unethical business practices.

He is believed to be in the Arnprior or Renfrew County area, and is six feet tall, weighs about 200 pounds, and has brown hair.

Police want to hear from anyone who knows where he is, or who may have been victims of fraud relating to him. They are asked to the Ottawa Police Fraud Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5433.
