The thousands of students descending on the Canadian Tire Centre for Tuesday’s WE Day event were expecting to hear from Simple Plan, Kardinal Offishall and Henry Winkler. But a surprise set of speakers was added to the roster late Monday afternoon: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau.
They are expected to address more than 15,000 at 1 p.m., which bills itself as a movement of young people leading local and global change. (The public can watch online at youtube.com/user/pmocpm.)
The WE Day event was created in 2007 by Marc and Craig Kielburger, co-founders of Free the Children.
