The 2016 draft budget for Ottawa is calling for a home tax increase of 2 per cent, while the proposed transit levy will rise by 2.85 per cent.
That means for an urban home assessed at the $375,300, the total property tax bill is expected to be $3,477 — a $72 increase over 2015: taxes for city services, including police, will increase by $55 ($11 of that going to policing services); the transit levy will go up $17; and the garbage fee will remain steady for the fourth consecutive year at $82.
In addition, the water and sewer fees – which are handled under a separate budget – are expected to increase by 6 per cent, as previously approved.
— More to come.
