Ottawa – Rideau Street from Sussex Drive to Dalhousie Street will be closed to all traffic from Friday November 20 at 6:30 p.m. to Monday November 23 at 5 a.m., to relocate a watermain as part of O-Train Confederation Line Rideau Station construction.

Businesses will remain open as usual. Pedestrian access will be maintained, with the exception of the closed south sidewalk between Sussex Drive and the signalized pedestrian crossing at the Rideau Centre entrance.

Rideau Street from Sussex Drive to Dalhousie Street has been closed to most vehicles since August to allow Confederation Line Rideau Station construction. Signed detours are already in place. Buses, taxis and delivery vehicles are currently permitted to use this section of Rideau Street, but over the weekend these vehicles will also be detoured.

OC Transpo and STO buses will be accommodated at the Transitway bus stops on Mackenzie King Bridge. Impacts to transit service as a result of the closure are anticipated to be minimal. For information on service schedules, OC Transpo customers should visit octranspo.com and STO customers should visit sto.ca.

With all of the construction-related activities underway, residents are encouraged to be flexible with commuting times, stagger work hours or use alternative means for travel. The public is asked to consider options such as transit, walking, cycling or carpooling.

The City of Ottawa has tools on ottawa.ca to help motorists and transit users plan their routes and manage their commute including:
