伪科普：从基本教义派成长到温和派

最近看见一套有关宗教信仰升级的理论，(因为不能算科学理论，所以叫伪科普，) 提供参考。
James W. Fowler (今年刚过世) 是美国 Emory University 的神学、人类发展教授。他在 1980 年代发表了"信念的六阶段"理论。几年以后美国精神科医师 M. Scott Peck 简化至四个阶段。

大约在青春期左右，信徒会进入一个比较像 "基本教义派" 的阶段(Fowler's #3, Peck's #2)。他们看不见自己被教义的框框限制住，不能接受教外的观点，而且面对信仰质疑的时候，反对得特别激烈。很多人一辈子就卡在这个阶段，常说别人是假信徒、异端、邪教邪说等等。我觉得这个阶段可以适用于任何价值体系，不光是宗教而已。

大约在成年初期，信徒開始能夠站在教义框框以外看世界。他们开始质疑自己的信仰，原有的价值也开始崩解。信徒可能会放弃他们的信仰，还有很多人一辈子会卡在这个阶段。我想可以叫这个"独立思考的起始"阶段 (Fowler's #4, Peck's #3)。

大约在中年的时候，(原本的)信徒开始揉合教义与非教义，同时拥抱信仰与非信仰 (Fowler's #5, Peck's #4)。理论指出人们会终于发现理性的边界，而安于接受矛盾、神秘的现状。Fowler 更进一步说最高级的信徒就是用一生为人民服务的，没有顾虑与悔恨。我想这说的就是温和派、世俗派。他们能同时接受宗教内外的观点，对于一些教裡教外解释世界明显的逻辑矛盾也不想多追究。

总结以上，先天、后天条件比较好的教徒，多给点时间、充实知识、会自然慢慢从基本教义成长到温和派。但也不能太乐观。

別看現在勢不兩立，只要一提到安省性教綱，兩種基本教義派就合流囉。但溫和派的信徒可以同時理解贊成與反對者的想法。

The theory presumes that many get permanently stuck at earlier stages. But this was 80s' view and we can be more optimistic today. Atheists ("Humanists" sounds better) can also recognize the limitation of rationality and the temporary existence of mysteries, as even with perfect logic reasoning and knowledge sharing, our views are still bound by our collective observation. But that doesn't mean God is real.
