A Via Rail train en route from Ottawa to Toronto struck a car near Belleville on Sunday afternoon.
No train passengers were reported injured, but two passengers in the car were taken to hospital with injuries, according to accounts posted on Via Rail’s Twitter site.
The collision happened shortly after 4 p.m. By 5 p.m., some passengers were boarding buses to take them to Toronto.
Some passengers were upset at the railway for not doing a better job keeping them informed. One passenger was upset Via Rail “doesn’t even acknowledge that there’s been an incident worth updating anyone on.”
“Really wish VIA would speak up,” posted another.
