Police are on the hunt for a suspect who allegedly robbed a convenience store armed with a metal bar.

A man demanded money from a convenience store employee on Wellington Avenue West near Parkdale Avenue around 7:55 p.m. on Oct. 15.

When the man didn’t get any cash, he allegedly struck the employee with a metal bar before fleeing the store.

Police said the employee suffered a cut that required stitches.

The suspect is described by police as a white man with a light complexion, between 30 and 35 years old and around six feet tall. He had a white cloth or something similar over his face and he was wearing a black down-filled winter jacket with a fur-lined hood, black pants and running shoes.

Anyone with information can call the Ottawa police robbery unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116.
